Sync Grid Tile Comparison

Stat boosts or move power: which should you choose?

Choose a sync pair and move to fill in the stats, move power, and available grid tiles. Adjust the values to match your build and compare the damage gains.

When stat-boost tiles win

1. A small power addition to a high-power move

When a move already has high power, an addition such as +2 produces a smaller percentage gain. In these two examples, the Sp. Atk tile wins even for a single use of the selected move.

Conditions: initial stars, Lv. 200, no potential increases, EX role locked, superawakening Lv. 0, regular form, and move level 5. Two free Sp. Atk +5 tiles near the center are already included, adding +10 to A. Other stat and power additions are zero. Each comparison covers one paid candidate tile, excluding the effects and costs of its connecting path. These tables do not represent optimal grid builds.

2. Using a mix of regular, buddy, and sync moves

Compare adding Sp. Atk +10 to a baseline stat A = 500 with adding power +3 to regular move A, whose baseline power P = 100. For regular move A alone, the +3% from power beats the +2% from Sp. Atk.

Now suppose you use several moves that share the same Sp. Atk stat. Baseline damage totals 10,000: 4,000 from regular move A, 2,000 from regular move B, and 4,000 from a sync move. The results are shown below. These hypothetical values illustrate the mechanism and are not measurements from a particular sync pair.

The Sp. Atk tile benefits all three moves, while regular move A’s power tile benefits that move alone. The selected move accounts for 40% of baseline damage, so the total gain from power is 0.4 × 3% = 1.2%. Using a mix of moves can reverse the winner compared with a single-move comparison.

Under these conditions, both options break even when the selected move accounts for about 66.67% of baseline damage. Sp. Atk wins below that share; move power wins above it. Accuracy, critical hits, targets, and action counts stay the same for both options, and the total includes only attacks using the same Sp. Atk stat.

3. You already have many power tiles for the selected move

The same power +3 gives +3% at baseline power P = 100, but only +1.5% at P = 200. Adding Sp. Atk +10 to A = 500 gives +2%, so in this example Sp. Atk wins once P exceeds 150. Existing stat bonuses also reduce the percentage gain from another stat tile. Use your current totals as the denominators.

Formulas for choosing between tiles

Under the same conditions and before rounding, damage is proportional to Attack or Sp. Atk × move power. For one use of the selected move, the option with the larger gain below is better.

Stat-boost optionΔA ÷ A

Move-power optionΔP ÷ P

A is the total baseline Attack or Sp. Atk, and P is the selected move’s total baseline power. ΔA and ΔP are the additions from new tiles. Both denominators include bonuses you already have.

The move-power option wins when ΔP ÷ P > ΔA ÷ A. When both additions are positive, the break-even move power is P = A × ΔP ÷ ΔA . Below that value of P, move power wins; above it, the stat boost wins.

At +6 Attack or Sp. Atk, the stat added by a grid tile receives the same rank multiplier. Being at +6 does not by itself make stat tiles less efficient.

When using both regular and sync moves

Stat tiles also benefit other moves that use the same Attack or Sp. Atk. If f is the selected move’s share of total damage (0.5 for 50%), the total damage gain from move power is f × ΔP ÷ P. A regular move’s power tiles do not boost sync move power. If action counts, targets, or conditions change, use the Damage Calculator to check the whole build.

When energy costs differ

Divide each damage gain by its additional energy cost to compare efficiency per energy. The largest damage gain may come from a different option than the best energy efficiency. Free tiles are not ranked by division.

Stats, move power, and Sync Grids use published data. This comparison excludes power-boosting skills, boosts, bulk, gauge effects, and action reductions. The formulas are based on publicly documented damage formula testing and the Lab’s shared damage calculation model.
