Build Your Ultimate Battle Team with Sync Grid SearchTwo Finest Subway Brothers
Ultimate Battle: Two Finest Subway Brothers. Have you found a clear team only to realize that you do not own the same sync pairs?
Use Pokemas Lab’s search to find the required counters and choose three pairs from your roster. Check the roles covered by moves and passives, then fill the gaps with sync grids.
The combinations in this guide are informed by reported clears, with roles and unlock requirements checked against our dataset. We have not tested these teams in-game, so the listed move levels are not minimum clear requirements.
1. Start with the three essential counters
The core counters are a status condition on Emmet & Archeops, Defense reduction on Ingo & Haxorus, and an allied field effect.
Archeops has five times its usual Defense and Sp. Def when it has no status condition; Haxorus has the same boost while its Defense is raised. The opponents also gain stronger attacks when your team is not covered by an allied field effect. Weather, terrain, and Zones do not satisfy this field-effect counter.
| Assigned role | What to check when choosing |
|---|---|
| Inflict a status condition | Can it target Emmet and be used again? |
| Remove raised Defense | Can it lower Ingo’s Defense repeatedly? |
| Provide an allied field effect | When can it deploy a circle, and how can it refresh it? |
Status conditions are removed after the opponent’s sync move or at HP thresholds, and Defense is raised again. Prepare ways to restore your counters during the fight. The opponents use physical attacks, so Defense buffs and Attack reduction also help.
2. Search for pairs that cover each counter
Search for the following effects one at a time in advanced search.
- “Paralysis” under “Status & interference infliction”
- Effects that lower the opponent’s Defense
- “Circle deployment” under “Weather & field effects”
Find candidates for each role separately rather than requiring one pair to meet every condition at the start. A pair covering several roles gives the other slots more room for damage or healing.
Open a candidate’s “Effect evidence” to check whether an effect comes from a move, passive, or grid tile. Search results may include effects requiring grid tiles or additional unlocks, so confirm that your own pair can use them.
Combining status conditions with Defense reduction
Poppy & Tinkaton uses Thunder Wave to inflict paralysis and lowers the target’s Defense by two ranks when using a Pokémon status move on an opponent. Both roles are available without grid tiles.
Thunder Wave displays 90 accuracy, but Poppy has a passive that makes her moves never miss. This helps her reapply paralysis to Emmet. Defense reduction applied to Emmet does not automatically reach Ingo; keep the targets separate.
Colress & Klinklang also has Thunder Wave and Screech. Ripple Effect 9 spreads stat reductions caused by Pokémon moves to all opponents, allowing one slot to cover paralysis and Defense reduction.
Colress’s Thunder Wave has 90 accuracy. Having a status-inflicting move is different from having guaranteed accuracy; check accuracy support when choosing him.
Combining circle deployment with damage
Sygna Suit Nemona & Scream Tail deploys Paldea Circle (Physical) when she uses a Pokémon status move. Sunny Day triggers this passive; Our Greatest Battle! is a Trainer move and does not meet that condition.
Ferocious Play Rough lowers every opponent’s Attack and Defense by one rank, combining damage with Defense reduction and physical damage control.
Elio (Champion) & Necrozma requires careful circle refresh planning. Solar Sunsteel Strike deploys a circle only if at least one Morning Sun use remains. A passive consumes a use when his HP falls to half or below, so track the remaining uses as well.
3. Use sync grids to strengthen your choices
Check improvements in this order: can you maintain the field effect and status condition, can you survive incoming attacks, and can you increase damage? If survival and counters are covered, prioritize damage tiles or Zones. If the team collapses, add a defensive circle, Attack reduction, or healing. The goal is to cover all required roles in three slots, rather than adding a Zone setter for its own sake.
Once you have your counter options, use sync grid search to find tiles that strengthen their roles.
After covering the essential counters, add enough damage to finish the battle. Compare Attack and critical-hit buffs, Physical Moves ↑ Next, and a Zone matching your main attacker. A Zone adds damage support; it does not replace a circle. With only three slots, start with the grids of your selected pairs. If you add another support, make sure the essential roles remain covered.
Consider Steel Zone if Steel damage is your main focus, or Fairy Zone if Fairy damage is your main focus. This example uses both types, so decide whose move you want to strengthen. If you replace a healer or tank to add a Zone setter, reassess whether the team can survive incoming attacks.
| Example search term | Desired improvement |
|---|---|
| Search on-hit Defense reduction → | Deal damage and lower Defense in the same action |
| Search Haymaker → | Turn Attack buffs into stronger sync moves |
| Search Charging Sun → | Strengthen move damage on a sun team |
| Search Move Point Refresh tiles → | Support more uses of healing and field-deployment moves |
| Search circle-related tiles → | Find bonuses that apply while a circle is active |
Separate multiple terms with commas. Use “Match any” to collect options broadly or “Match all” to find pairs with several improvements.
Searching for paralysis can also find tiles such as paralysis immunity. For circles, distinguish deployment, extension, and bonuses that apply while a circle is active.
Damage options include Poppy’s Haymaker at move level 3 and Nemona’s Paldea C (Phys): S-Moves ↑ 9 and Charging Sun 5, both at move level 3. Choose according to your main damaging move and the conditions you can maintain.
Here are tiles that help maintain counters or support survival when needed.
| Sync pair | Example tile | Required move level | What to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poppy & Tinkaton | Defense Crush 9 | 4 | Separate from the status-move Defense reduction available at move level 1 |
| Colress & Klinklang | Team Sentry Entry 2 | 3 | Raises all allies’ Defense by two ranks on entry |
| Sygna Suit Nemona & Scream Tail | Sync Burst 1 | 3 | Restores move points after this pair’s first sync move |
| Arc Suit Steven & Metagross | Potion: MP Refresh 2 | Move level 2 and above | Two tiles unlock at move levels 2 and 3; each has a 30% recovery chance |
These are candidate tiles, not a completed grid. Select them on the board and check the total energy including connecting tiles. Matching several search conditions does not guarantee that all matching tiles can be selected together.
How to search and build sync grids
4. Build a team of three
We will use the following three pairs as our first example.
Poppy & Tinkaton / Sygna Suit Nemona & Scream Tail / Arc Suit Steven & Metagross
| Sync pair | Primary roles |
|---|---|
| Poppy | Paralysis on Emmet, Steel damage, and targeted Defense reduction |
| Sygna Suit Nemona | Circle deployment, teamwide Attack and Defense reduction, and Fairy damage |
| Arc Suit Steven | Attack and critical-hit support, teamwide Defense buffs, healing, and additional Defense reduction |
The attackers also cover mechanics: Poppy applies paralysis, Nemona deploys the circle, and Nemona and Steven lower Defense. Steven provides buffs and healing.
Poppy and Nemona both have the Paldea theme skill; Poppy and Steven both have the Steel theme skill. This supports the conditions of Nemona’s Paldea Pride and Steven’s Iron Myth.
Steven’s Almighty Flash Bullet Punch lowers the target’s Defense and Sp. Def while raising every ally’s Defense and Sp. Def. It has three base uses. Share Defense reduction with Nemona’s attacks and Poppy’s status moves rather than relying entirely on this move.
Colress / Sygna Suit Lear / Arc Suit Steven
Colress & Klinklang cover paralysis and Defense reduction, Sygna Suit Lear & Gholdengo provide a defensive circle and Steel damage, and Arc Suit Steven & Metagross provide support and healing. This combines the counters with both damage and survival.
Lear’s Pasio C (Defensive) Extension 3 is a move-level-3 grid tile. Check how long you can maintain the circle, with Colress reapplying paralysis after it is removed. Lear uses special attacks, so Steven’s Attack buff alone does not complete his setup. Check Lear’s own Sp. Atk buffs too.

Poppy / Bianca (Champion) / Arc Suit Steven
Poppy & Tinkaton cover paralysis and Steel damage, Bianca (Champion) & Virizion provide a defensive circle and lower the opponent’s Attack, and Arc Suit Steven & Metagross provide support and healing.
Bianca also deploys a defensive circle on entry. At move level 3, Unova C (Defensive) Extension 5 and Defense Destroyer 9 can help maintain the circle and provide ongoing Defense reduction. This makes her a useful example of how to cover Nemona’s roles with another pair. Check the board to see whether the required tiles fit together.

These examples fit paralysis, Defense reduction, a defensive circle, and healing into three slots. A Zone is not required to combine the counters with a strong attacker. Check the unlock requirements for each assigned role rather than treating every reported move level as mandatory.
5. Plan when to restore your counters
These are the actions to prepare for this team. Treat them as priorities based on the opponents’ current state rather than a fixed input sequence.
- Use Nemona’s Sunny Day to deploy the circle.
- Use Poppy’s Thunder Wave on Emmet.
- Use Nemona’s Ferocious Play Rough or Steven’s buddy move to counter Ingo’s raised Defense.
- Set up Attack, critical-hit rate, and Defense, then attack while your counters are active.
Steven’s We’re the Strongest! raises critical-hit rate according to the gauge consumed. If a replacement teammate needs critical-hit support, check the available gauge before using it.
Watch these three things during the battle.
- If Emmet’s paralysis is removed, reapply it with Poppy before committing to a major attack.
- If Ingo’s Defense becomes positive again, prioritize lowering Defense.
- If your circle is about to expire, check Nemona’s remaining Sunny Day uses and refresh it.
Using both Sunny Day charges too close together leaves fewer refresh options later. If you select move-point recovery tiles, do not assume that every chance-based recovery will trigger. Plan around the base number of uses first.
6. Replace pairs using your own roster
You can choose replacements by preserving the required roles even if you do not own the same three pairs.
Replacing Poppy with Colress preserves paralysis and Defense reduction, but changes the team’s Steel damage output. Reassess the other two slots’ damage.
When replacing Nemona with another circle setter, also decide who will provide ongoing Defense reduction on all opponents.
When replacing Steven with another support, identify which healing, Defense buffs, and offensive buffs the replacement provides. Being a healer alone does not cover every role; assess the whole team.
7. Complete your Ultimate Battle team
Fill in this worksheet for the three pairs you selected. One pair can appear in several roles.
Finally, check required move levels, connecting tiles, and total grid energy. After a loss, identify whether paralysis expired, Defense stayed raised, the field effect ended, the team could not survive, or damage was insufficient. Adjust your search or grids accordingly.
Find counter options in your roster, fill the gaps, and try again. Use Pokemas Lab’s search as a tool for this process.
Search candidates and choose your three pairs
